Prepare pets for New Year celebrations

ByJames Brown

New Year is a time when family and friends come together to welcome the coming 12 months, but it can be a particularly distressing for pets.

The Queensland government is reminding pet owners to make sure their four-legged friends are safe while fireworks are being lit, as they can easily become frightened.

Natural resources and mines minister Andrew Cripps said: "Make sure they're inside the house or garage, so they'll be comfortable and won't become distressed and run away."

With many displays planned across Queensland, being prepared could make a real difference to your pets' safety over the New Year period.
